  1. Dear Mr Ameen

I am facing a problem and I would like your help.

We are using Oracle 10g database (AL32UTF8).

We have loaded some data into a table from a csv(comma seperated variable) file.

We are able to see the Arabic characters from the table in Oracle SQL developer, but we are not able see the data in the application.

Our application is a Java based web application and we are using Oracle 10G application server.

If we enter data in the application (Internet Explorer front end) and save it, we are able to retrieve and view the Arabic characters.

I can provide other information to help you understand this issue.

Please help us by giving some idea as to why we are facing this problem.

    Thanks a lot in advance
    Vadi

  2. Vadi,

Please use the dump function (ex. select dump(arabic_column, 1016) from table_name) on data you uploaded (csv) and data entered via IE. Do see a difference in the encoding between the 2 sets of data? Are both dumps UTF8?

Also, what is your NLS_LANG setting when you were uploading csv? is it the same as your application server.
